ART
AT THE GRANARY
In keeping with its pursuit
of quality and originality, The Granary chose to commission
original works of art to decorate and provide a strong
sense of uniqueness to the finish of its buildings.
The majority of the art work on display at the Granary
is provided by renowned modern artists Jane Atkins and
Keith Morgan. If you particulary enjoy the works on
display, a selection of them are available for purchase,
furthermore if you are an artist yourself, and are seeking
further inspiration, then why not join Jane or Keith
on one of their painting breaks at the Granary.

JANE
ATKINS: PAINTINGS 2006
Jane Atkins’ paintings show
her strong commitment to exploring colour and manipulating
materials. Jane obtained a 1st BA in textiles at Loughborough
University in 1999, and was immediately taken up by
the New Designers to join the show for new talent, and
in the same year she exhibited at the Mall Galleries,
London.
Several successful years as a textile designer followed,
with commercial designs sold in Germany, France, Belgium
and New York. Between 2002 and 2005 Jane worked on commissions
for her artwork for domestic interiors, and a textile
installation for a commercial public space in 2005.
Jane acted as a coordinator for several community arts
projects and has taken up recent artist in residencies
throughout Central England. She taught art and design
at Warwickshire College and runs workshops on many aspects
of mark-making throughout the Midlands.
In keeping with her hands on approach to her art, Jane
has always kept a parallel interest in exploring her
themes on paper and canvas. In the last few months she
has concentrated solely on this series of paintings.
The exhibition is a rare chance to see the private work
of this successful international designer at a new visual
arts venue in Rugby and of course at the Granary.
KEITH
MORGAN: ARTIST AND ILLUSTRATOR
Keith Morgan is an artist
who works on a wide range of scale. He is equally at
home with large canvasses in oil and small works on
paper. His paintings have a distinctive style, using
narrative elements in each work and combining lyrical
compositions with telling details in line.
Keith’s skill in drawing and the confident, sensitive
mark-making is the result of his training as a professional
illustrator. He develops visual narratives centred around
people, their interests and histories. The motifs in
his paintings are researched, then woven subtlety in
the composition, often as hidden details.
Colour is an important element in the atmosphere of
Keith Morgan’s painting, and it is this area that he
has been exploring in his recent abstract work. Keith
Morgan’s paintings are held in a number of private collections,
and commissions include oils on large-scale canvas.
